Switching From Hugo

Disclaimer

Golda was hard-forked from Hugo version 0.151.2. Thus, there are some changes made in Hugo that do not apply to Golda.

• There is no Deploy Edition for Golda.
• .Site.LanguageCode is used instead of .Site.Language.Locale.
• Functions and methods such as page.Render are not supported due to being released later.
• Hugo themes may or may not work depending on which versions of Hugo they were built against. We recommend using our own theme library instead.

It is highly recommended to test your site locally before switching it from Hugo to Golda, and we cannot guarantee compatibility past Hugo version 0.151.2!

Local

1. Install Golda.
2. Run golda in-place of hugo (e.g. golda server).
3. Check logs in terminal for potential incompatibilities (see Disclaimer) and resolve them.
4. Enjoy your Golda site!

Forgejo Actions

The following details how to update an existing Forgejo Actions workflow (such as deploying to git-pages) to use Golda.

1. Change the value of container.image to codeberg.org/personaltechhelp/golda:latest or to a specific version.
2. Replace the hugo command with golda.
3. Run the updated workflow workflow.
